Kariyarra Sims Recycling is a joint venture owned by Kariyarra Transport Services (KTS) and Sims Metal.
KTS is a locally owned business that is a subsidiary of Kariyarra Enterprises who offer via its different joint venture arrangements a range of consulting, transport and industrial services across the Pilbara, including bus hire, airport transfers, mine site cleaning, and cultural awareness training. Kariyarra Enterprises have extensive networks throughout the Pilbara, including resource and mining houses, and local industry. Kariyarra Enterprises has extensive experience in establishing joint venture arrangements to operate within indigenous engagement frameworks.
Sims Metal is an Australian publicly listed metal recycler that was established in Australia in 1917 and who have been operating in the Pilbara for over ~50 years, providing a range of services, including the mining and resources sectors. Sims Metal operates 5 sites in Western Australia, including 2 in the Pilbara. Sims Metal has significant service assets in WA, including extensive processing and transport resources and specialised mobile resource and mining industry scrap handling teams. Sims Metal also has a specialised and centralised global trading team to support our WA operations with access to a vast network of trading partners to ensure the optimisation of value for the products that it processes.
Kariyarra Sims Recycling provides scrap metal recovery and recycling to major mining and industrial customers in the Pilbara region, leveraging the networks and reach of KTS and the industry skills, knowledge and service assets of Sims Metal. The business operates out of a large industrial site in Wedgefield, Port Hedland and has an extensive transport fleet and remote service assets and crews.
